Peak team is an highly intensive Olympic Taekwondo program. The program is designed for students who have a dream of becoming an elite athlete in the Olympic sport of Taekwondo. In this program we focus on sport specific strength and conditioning training, speed and agility drills, and Olympic Taekwondo drills. We do not do traditional forms and stances. This is a sport specific class taught by U.S. National Team Coaches. Our coaching staff consists of 3x Olympian and U.S. Team Coach Juan Moreno, 3x National Champion and U.S. Team Coach Eui Lee. Together they have produced several national champions and is one of the top teams in the country. Our Olympic Taekwondo Program is like no other program. Brenden and ShaLane started Taekwondo 8 1/2 years ago. After training for 6 years in Brainerd where we live, realizing our kids were hitting a plateau and needed a higher level of training, we parted ways with the school we had trained with. We were 3 months away from nationals, Brenden and ShaLane both wanted to compete, so we Called Master Lee and asked if he would be interested in training our kids until nationals. We would reevaluate at the end of the summer.

2 1/2 years later we are still traveling to Maple Grove 3 days a week to train. What started as a temporary fix, turned out to be a long term commitment.

People often ask us what would possess us to travel all the way to Maple Grove for Taekwondo. The answer is this. What we found at WTA is a family; we share a common bond, our children and the love of the sport. More than that though we found an instructor who has passion for what he does that shows in the kids he instructs. Master Lee has the ability to see the talent in the kids, even when they don't see it in themselves. He gave back to my kids the passion that they were losing training in Brainerd. Training with the peak team under Master Lee has taught them so much. He continually gives them all the tools that they need to keep improving. They are more knowledgeable, confident, and dedicated.

I am quite sure that had we not joined the peak team both Brenden and ShaLane would not be in Taekwondo any longer, and Brenden would not have realized his dream of getting Gold at the Jr. Nationals. I can't wait to see what the future of Taekwondo holds for them, as well as my husband Marc, who recently joined the WTA family.
