Grandmaster Lee was born in Seoul, Korea he started TaeKwonDo at the age of 7. He began his training with Grandmaster Byung Jik Ro, who was one of the founding fathers of TaeKwonDo. The dojang (kwan) was Sang Moo Kwan. Grandmaster Lee was sent to the United States by the Korean government to help educate people about TaeKwonDo. With all his hard work and efforts, Grandmaster Lee brought over many master instructors from Korea to Minnesota. TaeKwonDo in Minnesota wouldn't exist without the help and dedication of Grandmaster Lee.
Grandmaster Lee was the former president of the Minnesota TaeKwonDo Association. He has stayed true to the art of TaeKwonDo. To this day, he still teaches students that he has taught since the early 70's. He is truly a remarkable person who inspires all the instructors and black belts at the World TaeKwonDo Academy.
Grandmaster Lee is the highest ranked instructor in Minnesota (9 th Degree the highest level attainable in TaeKwonDo) and is one of the most influential people in the TaeKwonDo world. We are so fortunate to have him be our Kang Jang Nim (Grandmaster Instructor). Our GREATEST benefit having Byung Yul Lee as our leader is that he truly treats ALL of us in his organization with Respect and Integrity regardless of who we are in our outside world. Byung Yul Lee is truly a Grand Master worth admiring in TaeKwonDo and in LIFE!
